Numerus Currens Shelving

Definition:
Type of shelving used for arranging library holdings.

It is usually not used for holdings in open access presentation, but in the library stacks. The items are shelved exclusively in the order of their acquisiton through the library, disregarding contents or any other elements.

It allows an optimum use of space.
